Japan is home to a wide range of biodiversity and natural ecosystems that provide the necessary ecosystem services, which provide vital support for human well-being and sustainable development. Japan's economic development is highly dependent on biodiversity and ecosystem services. The forthcoming AIGCC-PwC report, Nature at a Tipping Point, found that 50% of Japan’s industries are highly or moderately dependent on nature.
Investors in Japan are increasingly aware of business dependency and impact on nature as shown by a large number of Japanese investors who have committed to report in alignment with the Task Force on Nature-related Disclosure (TNFD) framework. As a result, nature is increasingly integrated into the overall business and investment process to better understand their exposure to nature risks and opportunities, as well as their operational and investment impact on nature.
An updated English/Japanese version of Nature at a Tipping Point with analysis specific to Japan, will be previewed during this event. This report, prepared in partnership with PwC, covers Asia Pacific's economic dependencies on nature, and steps to managing nature dependencies and risk for investors. AIGCC will also provide an exclusive preview of our upcoming online training foundational module on deforestation for investors.
